Dmitriy Chernyy’s practice focuses on defending clients in a wide range of liability claims in both state and federal court, with a particular emphasis on product liability, medical malpractice, and negligence cases. He recently won a defense verdict in a three-week jury trial involving an asbestos-related personal injury.
Dmitriy has represented many clients in the field of complex product liability and multi-party mass tort litigation. His representation includes manufacturers of a wide range of products including gaskets, valves, pumps, boilers, furnaces, brakes, clutches, motor vehicles, motorcycles, heavy construction equipment, building materials (joint compound, drywall, ceiling/floor tile, duct connectors), and mechanical equipment. He has also represented premises owners, distributors, retailers, and contractors.
During law school at Syracuse University College of Law, he was a member of its Moot Court Honor Society and an advocate of the school's National Trial Team, which he coached after graduation. Dmitriy was also an intern at the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, where he drafted consent orders, compliance schedules, and legal memoranda for cases involving violations of the state’s environmental statutes, and worked with engineers to develop legal strategy for remediation of polluted worksites.
Dmitriy was the New York State Regional Champion and a national finalist in the American Association for Justice’s Trial Competition in 2013. He also won the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers’ Excellence in Advocacy and Evidence Award in 2013, and the Best Coach Award from the New York State Bar Association’s Trial Lawyers Section in 2014.
