Joëll Percy focuses on defending workers’ compensation claims and brings to her practice extensive experience appearing on behalf of clients before administrative agencies and workers’ compensation boards across New York State. She represents insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and self-insured entities in a wide variety of complex matters. In handling each case from start to finish, Joëll formulates litigation strategies based on level of exposure, deposes medical personnel, and negotiates favorable case resolution.
Before returning to private practice, Joëll acted as in-house counsel to one of the country’s largest insurers, where she attended hearings on behalf of its claims department on all issues of New York State workers’ compensation law, including issues of controversy and fraud, permanent disability, and coverage. Her diverse background also includes corporate and transactional law and representing claimants in workers’ compensation matters — experience that provides critical insight into the best defenses of a broad array of claims.
Joëll won a coveted Minority Fellowship from the Association of the Bar of the City of New York (ABCNY) — one of 40 granted citywide — while earning her J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law, where she graduated in 2005. She is quadrilingual.
