Goldberg Segalla LLP has named John P. Freedenberg, one of the founding partners of the law firm, Chair of its Product Liability Practice Group. Mr. Freedenberg brings to his leadership of this group the experience of defending product manufacturers and other clients in more than 150 trials across the United States, many of them involving major fire damage and catastrophic personal injuries, as well as his recently earned credentials as a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI). He currently serves as national coordinating counsel for two major manufacturers.

As Chair of the Product Liability Practice Group, Mr. Freedenberg will oversee a team of more than 50 attorneys across the firm’s offices who practice in a wide range of areas, including Automotive Products Liability, Aviation, Catastrophic Personal Injury, Consumer Products, Fire Litigation, Industrial Products, Life Sciences, and Sports and Recreational Products.

Mr. Freedenberg’s CFEI credentials provide Goldberg Segalla clients with a strong competitive advantage in litigation involving damage and injury from fires. He has participated in dozens of fire scene inspections and more than 100 laboratory inspections of fire scene artifacts, and he has conducted hundreds of depositions and dozens of trials in fire-related cases. Administered by the National Association of Fire Investigators through its National Certification Board, CFEI is the largest fire investigator certification program in the world.

Mr. Freedenberg received his B.S., magna cum laude, from the State University of New York at Buffalo and his J.D. from the University at Buffalo Law School. He lives in Amherst.
