Matthew S. Libroia Joins Goldberg Segalla November 17, 2014
Goldberg Segalla is pleased to announce Matthew S. Libroia has joined the firm as an associate in its Garden City office. He is a member of the firm’s General Liability Practice Group. Previously, he was an Assistant District Attorney in the County Court Trial Bureau of the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office.
Matthew is an experienced trial attorney who took 10 trials to verdict and conducted approximately 50 pretrial hearings as an Assistant District Attorney. In addition, he maintained a caseload as high as 300-plus misdemeanor cases and he negotiated 500-plus plea agreements with opposing counsel.
Matthew’s experience includes working as a legal intern with the San Diego District Attorney’s Office Family Protection and Narcotics Divisions, where he researched complex legal issues, including comparative state law relating to the three-strikes law; drafted motions for the deputy district attorneys; and argued preliminary examinations and motion hearings. He also has business experience, having worked as an equity research associate for a New York-based global investment bank and securities trading and brokerage firm.
While receiving his juris doctor at the University of San Diego School of Law (2011), Matthew was a member of the National Mock Trial Team and participated in the TYLA (Texas Young Lawyers Association) Mock Trial Competition and the McLennon Moot Court Competition. He received a bachelor of arts degree from New York University (2005).
